My Story

Sarah was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and educated in Arkansas, completing her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Hendrix College.  She became fascinated with research through various internships, covering topics such as novel DNA repair pathways and the dynamics of quadruplex DNA in the mitochondrial genome.  She joined the Stowers graduate program in 2019 and is currently completing her Ph.D. research through a joint mentorship with the Zanders and Gerton labs, exploring the consequences of centromere size variation.

Outside the lab, Sarah enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, as well as hiking around the Kansas City area.
